The dictionary defines ecstasy as an overwhelming feeling of great happiness or joyful excitement.
This is in a whole different category from what most people think of as happiness or pleasure. You might enjoy eating an ice cream, a walk with your dog, or having sex.
Then the feeling fades soon after.
Sometimes in our busy lives we might even reduce our sense of what happiness is to the absence of problems. For example, you’re not having a squabble with your partner or a coworker today.
On the other hand, ecstasy is something you feel deep in your belly. It washes over you and lingers.
For hours, even days.
Your invitation to ecstasy
Ecstasy is possible for everyone – including you. We might even go so far as to say that it’s the elusive fountain of youth that people have been seeking for thousands of years.
Can you imagine feeling the pulse of bliss deep inside your body every day?
Ecstasy starts with your body. Not necessarily with sex, though sometimes sex can be a wonderful doorway to it.
It all starts with going out of your mind and being embodied. Bring your awareness deep inside your body.
As you read this allow yourself to take a slow, deep breath. Let your awareness ride the elevator down from your analytic mind to your core.
Grounded in your body, the world is different, safer, more fun – and you have more power to be in the present moment.
Your mind as wonderful and necessary as it is will pull you into the future (with worry) or the past (with regret) keeping you from being here now.
Besides, the world is too complicated to live from your mind alone.
When you’re in your body and in the present moment, ecstasy is much more available to you.
From this body-centered place, you can
- Relax more fully, creating more wholeness and health
- Connect deeply with another, and yourself.
- Feel pleasure more richly
- Feel more vibrant and alive
- Allow your playfulness to show up, and fill the space
